If you have been following us, you know it is our “ordinary”. If you are new here, you may be surprised that all of our Sashiko on posts/photos are all hand-stitched.

Well, “hand-stitching” is quite ordinary for our Sashiko practice, and therefore we rarely claim that our Sashiko pieces are all “hand-stitched”. Sometimes we receive a question saying “Is this hand-stitched?”. It explains sometimes I receive quite sad commission requests: asking for a project calculating less than $1.00 per hour… If they misunderstand our work is done by machine, it may be valid – but again, we are here to share the Sashiko with hand-stitching for not only the “beautiful outcome” but also the importance of “hand-stitching”. There are reasons for our passion in Hand-stitching. This account is for sharing the story for that. Although I do not “dislike” a [Machine Sashiko] (which I do not like either), we find our identity in hand stitching – and I hope to keep our Sashiko as “hand-stitching”.

I kept saying “hand-stitching” in this post. In the Internet World, we can say anything without doing anything. One claim for “hand-stitching” may not be doing “hand-stitching”. It is our responsibility to acknowledge what we are reading, watching and learning. Therefore, I offer “Live Streaming” every week to share my hand-stitching while talking about Sashiko for an hour or so. It is on Thursday night at 9 pm EST, and it is tonight.

「刺し子なんだから当たり前でしょ」と言われてしまうとその通りなのですが、時に「それは本当に手刺しなの？」というご指摘を頂くことがあります。商売として刺し子と時を過ごしていた時には、直接お客様からお声を頂くこともありました。機械（ミシン）で形になる刺し子もあって、それは一つの変化の形として個人的には嫌っているわけではありません（好きではないけれど）。疑われる＝信用されていないという図式が頭にあった昔は苛立つこともあったのですが、多角的に物事を見れるようになった今は、むしろ「褒め言葉」だと感じるようになりました。全て刺し子の部分は手刺しで、実際に触れて頂いたり見て頂けたら必ず違いがわかるようにできています（仕立てはミシンを使うこともあります）。

刺し子中毒になっている人＆刺し子を仕事にしている人にとっては、これくらいの分量の刺し子は「気がついたら終わっている」くらいのものだとは思うのですが、同時に後から振り返って「よくもまぁこれだけ刺したなぁ」と思ったりもするのです。手刺しなので時間はかかります。ただ、一針ずつ神経を尖らせている訳ではないので、案外楽に形になります。そんな実際の運針を見て頂こうと毎週開催しているのが「刺し子配信」です。毎週金曜の夜（冬までは夜9時半頃開始）が日本語版。毎週金曜のお昼は英語版です。

配信の目的は「刺し子とはなんだろう」とお話をして、また見て下さっている方からご指摘を頂いたり質問を頂いたりして、私自身の学びを深めることでもあります。アメリカとの時差の関係で夜遅い配信で恐縮ですが、是非遊びに来て頂けたら嬉しいです！Youtubeで「刺し子物語」と検索頂くか、刺し子配信のストーリーのアーカイブを探して頂けると幸いです。
