I am very much thrilled to be part of QuiltCon 2023 in Atlanta as a returning faculty. Registration is open for @themqg Members today. It has been a great honor to share the Sashiko we practice in QuiltCon & I am going to bring everything I can offer – as always like the previous QuiltCons.

I will be debuting as a lecturer as well. I have offered several Webinars & small presentations here and there in a classroom setting. However, this is my first time presenting my stories in “Lecture Setting” – I know. A Lecture in English… My high school English teacher will NEVER believe that I will be doing this. (I wasn’t a good student in terms of English as a class subject… I mean I studied very hard in the last year of high school, but before that, I was more like a “D” to “F” student in English).

The title of the lecture is “Japanese Sashiko Today as Cultural Sustainability” – which sounds a bit scary, but I will NOT & Never criticize anyone who would like to enjoy Sashiko. The point of this lecture is how to respect both Materialistic & Cultural Sustainability. While we care for the environment, we can also care for the people who carry the culture behind simultaneously. Why does the name of “Sashiko” matter? What is the difference between Sashiko and other Quilting words? I have been learning about (doing) Quilting this summer, and I believe I can talk about the importance of Cultural Sustainability from anyone’s perspective. I hope to meet/see you there!

Possibly the best class I’ve ever attended at any craft convention/retreat. I learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I so wish I could attend! This topic sounds amazing! 👏👏👏👏
I’m so excited! I was able to get into your Thursday class 😍

🔥tell us how to register please
Can’t wait…. I have a place on your Friday class. 💙💙💙
I just signed up for your lecture and put myself on the waitlist for your Sashiko workshop. I am thrilled ton have found your Instagram. After spending a few months in Japan in 2019, I struggled to understand the distinctions between the examples of Sashiko and Boro I saw in Japan and the way these concepts are presented in the West. Your posts have been very clarifying thus far, and I look forward to continuing to learn!
👏👏👏👏👏 thank you!!!
Coming to Colorado anytime ??
Love it for its simplicity yet every stitch could mysteriously be telling a story through the patterns. Thanks for sharing your craft with us. 😍
I’m so happy you will be teaching and lecturing on how to enjoy the doing of Sashiko in a respectful and sustainable way. I will try to come see/ do your class. However: February is Black history month in the USA and it is an important month for me to make sure the blood sweat and tear my ancestors sheaf to make this country on of the wealthiest and give it is richness is not belittled or forgotten. Peace and blessings to you.
