We are making items we can “offer” for sale with as reasonable pricing as possible. Our stories become more powerful when they “experience” it. There are reasons why they stitched Geometric Patterns on specific areas on the fabric. There are stories why “mending” isn’t the primary essence in Sashiko. After all, we are a group of Sashiko artisans. I now focus on sharing stories more, but we are valuable when we stitch. Instead of just “admiring” something the Japanese made a few hundreds years ago (which is important), I would like to share the importance of supporting the “surviving artisans” who can make similar items. Sashiko isn’t in the Past yet.
☆
One of my “privileges” in Sashiko is that I was born in this Sashiko “manufacturing” family. We did not only try to defend the culture by preserving the fabric & studying it, but we also tried to prolong (develop) Sashiko by creating more work, more choice, and more products. Although it was a very difficult time for me, I respect the fact that “We are the makers of Sashiko”.
☆
As you can see on Youtube, my Live Streaming, and on other SNS, we are still making Sashiko items – our stories are powerful because we also make them as the Japanese did. Once the details are out, I will first introduce it on @UpcycleStitches (so if you are interested in purchasing our future items, please follow our business account). We are still making Sashiko items for tomorrow.

In Traditional Japanese craftsmanship, there is a word that I cannot fully translate to English. It is “職人 (Shokunin)”. The direct translation is a “craftsperson”, but I feel the description is incomplete. It is a strict, and very Japanese-like world there. For example, an apprentice to a traditional Sushi bar…

“How can I reach the summit? I want to see the view from the top of the mountain you introduce”. Well. I can show some photos or videos of the view from the summit. One can probably use a helicopter to get to the summit without climbing. Even when they…

😯 Wow! 💜💜💜💜. Thank you for sharing your expertise, knowledge, skills and understanding with me. Sashiko stitching has interesting techniques and seeing your projects and the method for stitching used makes beautiful projects. 👏👏👏 I recently discovered you on YouTube and enjoying learning about the history you feature and amazed that the expensive wear in specific shops had been borne from people’s necessity to create and maintain their clothing, but the stitching is very unique an intricate from my point of view. I will continue to watching your demonstrations and knowledge provided on your channel and hoping in time will be able to stitch in the style you are encouraging novices to develop. Peace and kindness with prayers. 👌☕
