Natural Dye – one of my beloved, cherished, and treasured colors. It goes really

atsushijp, 2022年7月9日

Natural Dye – one of my beloved, cherished, and treasured colors. It goes really well on Indigo fabric as well. When I share a Jacket with Natural Dye thread with Sashiko Stitching, I often say, “Try it under the SunLight. I will give you another face”. There is something I cannot explain (in a positive way) in Natural Dye.
☆
It is rather difficult to handle, though. Well, once you get used to how to treat, then it isn’t so much trouble – but you cannot use Bleach to wash the Natural Dye items. It will be “white”. Also, it is recommended to use PH neutral detergent because some Natural Dye happens via oxidation. So much to remember & care? Yes, but “imagination” can help us to understand the issue. We just have to imagine how the People who actually had to stitch would wash/clean their fabric. Did they have a fancy washing machine with detergent containing some “Ultra Stain removal action”? Cheap Artificial Dye is an outcome of our suffering of troublesome natural dye – and it is everywhere with us benefiting from it. At the same time, when we appreciate Natural Dye, the imagination can be a key to take good care of the Stitching. This Jacket have many kinds of Indigo Dye Sashiko thread – both A Series and M series on @upcyclestitches

Photos of Boro before and after. This is my wallet of keeping my cards when I go out. I bring it out with me pretty much every time I am out, so it ages quite nicely and very much “Boro-like”. I understand that your interests would be “how to make…

“Boro” is now understood as the word for “patchworking” for ecological purposes

“Boro” is now understood as the word for “patchworking” for ecological purposes – even as the technique to patchwork the fabric. Often, a practitioner interprets this concept as the way to “connect” recycled (vintage) fabric to enlarge the fabric piece. Personally, I do not think the core of Boro doesn’t…

Thank you for watching Thursday Sashiko Live. “Ibasho” as a “Place (Space) to be (while stitching)” is one of the ultimate goals in passing down the Sashiko we practice. I am very happy that I am able to create such a space there on Youtube. I offer it almost every…

I appreciate the way you describe the life of textiles. I have so many beautiful fabrics sitting around because I am afraid to “ruin” them by sewing them into something. I think I will make something beautiful and useful today.
