Sashiko & Denim. This isn’t really “traditional” from some Sashiko artisans’ perspective. However, I call it Sashiko because we try to understand, share, and tell the stories of what Sashiko can be for us. Any Colors are fine. Any Patterns are Fine. I just want you to know Stories behind the practice – why “indigo & white” and why “Geometric Patterns” – which you can find the stories on our Youtube, Website & Patreon.

Anyone can do this type of work. However, no matter how “fast” we can stitch, it will take many hours of stitching – it can be both “labor” and “leisure”. I no longer offer commission work after getting so tired of undervaluing our work. I used to enjoy contributing to someone’s work. I just wonder if they would enjoy working at almost half of the federal minimum wage. Again, anyone can do it – and it can be “labor” when I stitch as a Sashiko Artisan, and it can be “leisure” when I stitch for fun. If this type of Sashiko Denim is your destination, please consider taking my “Core & Essence” workshop, either In-Person or Online (both good in a different way)

[Announcement] I scheduled the Thursday Sashiko Live Streaming on 10 pm EST tomorrow. 1 hour later than usual. However, it really depends on the traffic & conditions. I will keep updating on Youtube Channel. (Find our channel by “Sashiko Story”).

In Japanese, we express “Busy” with this character “忙(しい)”. The character is consistent with 2 parts, “Losing” and “mind(heart)”. Are you making yourself busy to the extent of losing your mind(fulness)?  ☆ In my understanding, this Japanese word (忙) of “Losing mind” is NOT equal to “losing kindness or caring”….

I’ve never understood the concept that handmade should be charged at less than factory work! What the hell is that all about? People want the handmade look but are unwilling to pay for it and also a lot are unwilling to learn how to do it for themselves. So the mass market continues to flourish sadly.
