I often say “All Different, All Good” when I teach Sashiko. It is my brief answer to the frequent question – “What is a good size for Sashiko”. All stitches “can be” a good size when a stitcher keeps learning what Sashiko is for us. What I teach is not “how to make good size stitches” because I don’t know what is the best size stitch for the students. Instead, I teach “Form (Kata)”. The Kata is well-developed by masters so that “anyone” can follow their mastery, often with less time in practicing. I don’t think Sashiko without “Kata” is wrong. Following someone’s definition of “good size” isn’t also wrong at all. However, it isn’t “a whole picture” of Sashiko, because we won’t unfortunately be able to make a Jacket like this when we all have to follow the “right size stitches”. We can make this jacket because we have all the same expectations and Kata.

I added the seats for Online Sashiko Class where you can learn the Form. I will follow-up until you can do it. Also, I will be visiting the SFC area this June for In-person workshop. I will share the details later on.

「針目には人柄が出る」とか「みんな違ってみんな良い」とか、配信でお話しする様々なことは、基本的に経験談から来ています。「運針は誰にでもできる」し、ご自身で柄を書いて様々なものに刺し子をすることも、誰でもできます。運針を学んだ後は、刺し子が大変というよりは寧ろ仕立てを学ぶ必要があったり、そもそもの「センス」が必要だったりします。伝統柄を刺すだけにしてもセンスは必要ですし、みなさんそれぞれに得意分野があって、「たかが刺し子、されど刺し子」だなぁといつも思うのです。

運針会で運針を学んで頂くと、一定の「型」のようなものができてきます。その型も慣れてきたら調整して下さいねとお伝えはしているのですが、始まりの型が一緒だと、針目にも共通点が出てきます。違うけど”合う”んです。そんな思いを、わかりやすい形にしたくて作っているのが「運針会ジャケット」です。何回かこれまでにもご紹介したジャケットですが、見る度にとんでもねーなーと思うのです（笑）。今回のリトアニアの展示会にこのジャケットも行っています。良い写真が送られてきますように（後、無事作品が戻ってきますように！！）
