I share stories about Sashiko. I teach Sashiko. I am proud of what I do, and I sincerely appreciate the support I receive throughout the supply purchase & participation in the workshops/classes. However, sharing & teaching Sashiko (stories) aren’t the origin of our activities (what we do). We used to be a group of Sashiko Artisans: Artisans “make” items.

We no longer make items for sale to the general public. We sometimes make a piece or so, and list it on our website or tell our friends. It usually gets sold before I share it on SNS. We used to be able to make a lot more. Unfortunately, we cannot do it now. I thought it was a matter that no one could help: the change of society. Now, I wonder… and I am trying my best to bring it back. I hope our Sashiko items spread all over the world, again.

As you know, the essence of Sashiko’s beauty exists in the ordinary & “Using” it. For Some (including myself), Sashiko isn’t Art. Sashiko “can be” Art, but there are reasons why we do not consider Sashiko “Art”. I hope we share enough stories to explain “why” to those who wish to learn.

失敗だらけの人生です。一見すると器用っぽいらしいのですが、深く知ると「なんて不器用なんだ」となる性格のようです。「刺し子は儲からん」とか「お金は大切だけど目的じゃない。あくまで目標を達成する為の手段」なんていう偉そうなことを言っていますが、綺麗事では進まないことは承知しているつもりだし、失敗は痛みを伴うことも経験しています。それでも一つだけ、変わらない思いがあります。「製造業（職人集団）が作るのをやめたら、そこで文化も営みも終わってしまう」ということ。勿論、やたらめったら何でも作れば良いというものではありません。ただ、安心して作って頂けるような場所を作れて初めて「会社」とか「経営」という話になるんだろうと思います。

私の配信だったり、刺し子をお教えする運針会だったり。お伝えすることがメインになっていて、それをとても誇りに感じているのですが、同時に私達の（恵子さん達職人さんの）本質は作ることにあります。いつか、「作って販売する」という昔の当たり前に戻れるように、今は必死に目の前のことに愚直に取り組もうと思っています。
