“Sashiko isn’t in the past yet”. It is true that Sashiko was widely practiced in Japan a few hundred years ago while they had to live in harsh conditions (such as severe winter) with limited resources. There are many beautiful Sashiko (Boro) pieces on Books and in museums. With easy application, “Sashiko” has been becoming something different. Change is good. However, please know that there are still artisans who can make the pieces which they think they can find only in books and in museums. We are here, and we are still stitching. We can make Sashiko Jackets, and therefore we can make authentic Boro pieces (with spending so much time with it).
☆
Again, we can make the Jacket like this. You may find similar jackets in museums, or in a book such as [Japanese Fishermen’s Coats from Awaji Island]. It means that you can own it if you want. All hand-stitched. Massive Labor, but we can. Sashiko isn’t in the past yet. Please contact me if you would like to place an order to make a Sashiko Jacket. Please do some reading first, though. Read our website & online portfolio. Think about “how many hours” required to hand-stitch, and do the math. I often receive a request to go through Sashiko on Denim for $500 or so. Do they think I can do Sashiko on whole denim in 50 hours…(even with minimum wage rate without materials)? Please do not be disrespectful. However, I am happy to pass our Sashiko to someone who appreciate & respect what we do.
☆
3rd time. Sashiko isn’t in the Past yet. Please do not make our Sashiko the past by ignoring it based on someone’s profit & convenience.

We are proud of being “makers”. We are Artisans who happen to teach. We are Creators who decided to sell what they use. Yes, “business” is very important to sustain the practice of Sashiko. However, money is not the purpose. Money is just a means to make “Sustainable Sashiko” happen….

As much as I share my concerns about “Sashiko introduced in English”, I Never say (and feel) it is painful to see people enjoying Sashiko. I really do want them, and of course you, to enjoy it. What is the difference between those whom I encourage to enjoy Sashiko &…
