We can make “authentic” Boro, when we understand the “Stories” behind the word. It requires a process, not the result, to make it Japanese Boro. The word “Boro” isn’t only for the (in)Visible Mending.

The long article on Patreon was a good summary of this long story of “What is Boro for Japanese”. While writing, I could summarize my ideas into one article, in which I realize the needs of elaborating each paragraph to another series of stories.

Boro became a famous word for “any” mending or patchworking. Yes, it is true that Boro include (conclude) a process of mending. However, it also includes more stories: and in order to fully appreciate what Boro is, the understanding of the stories are important. Boro is more than what you think.

日本人にはあまり良い印象とはならないだろう言葉：襤褸・ぼろ。「もう心身ともにぼろぼろだよ」という言葉は、やっぱり前向きな明るい雰囲気は作り出しません。でも、日本人が襤褸を身に纏い、繕い、そして残してきたのは事実です。その諸先輩方の思いを理解しようと心がける事で、襤褸は作れます。なんでもかんでも補修したりパッチワークしたりすればBOROとして価値が付帯する世の中で、刺し子をする僕たちはその言葉の裏にある物語を残したいと思うのです。襤褸は、作れます。だからこそ、その奥にある物語を知ってほしいのです。
