Our Sashiko Story to Your Sashiko Journey

I know some do not really understand what I am trying to do, especially if their value is based on capitalism. I was once so ambitious with cold-blood eyes because all I cared about was once “money”. Don’t get me wrong. Money is extremely important, and I need it. I like it, but in a different way. The difference within myself is that money became just a “vehicle” to reach my destination instead of (rather than) “the destination itself”. Again, over and over again, if the goal is just to make a lot of money, Sashiko is a stupid choice: a bad sense of business… Instead, if a person has a passion for Sashiko itself, or has a different destination, then I am here for their ally.

☆

All I “teach” is the gateway of Sashiko (Core & Basic) so you can enjoy the park (without borders). All I “share” is a map that I have visited in the park where I had visited (borders I have visited). There are millions of parks in the world, so is Sashiko I Japan. I want you to find your own park/Sashiko you truly like. Try as many kinds of Sashiko as you can. Read/watch as many resources as you find. I just do not want you to limit yourself to the fact that the park you have in your comfortable travelling area is “only” park anyone can enjoy. Of course, if the park’s goal is to make money by bringing people into “their park”, stating “this is the only park!” is a great marketing strategy. However, then let me raise a question, who is limiting Sashiko (park)? Me (who does not define Sashiko so easily) or Them (who defines Sashiko for instant gratifications, worse without proper understanding)? I am NOT the answer. I don’t want to be. I want YOU to find your own Answer.

Another Japanese word I want you to know. It is “自己責任(論)” – in English, it will be translated to “Self-Responsibility”, or more like “Individual Accountability”. In rough summary, it means “You are here because of what you have done (or have not done)”. In my youth, I was a big…

Tomorrow is Feb.8th in the US (It is Today in Japan). If you follow this account long enough, you may know what Feb.8th is for Stitchers in Japan. Yes, it is a day of “Hari-Kuyou” – a Farewell Ceremony for broken/bent needles. ☆ “Culture” isn’t something extraordinary. It is developed…

    手刺しに見えないというのは針目が整ってるから?
    日本では刺し子=手刺し、が当たり前だけれどそうではないということなんですね。
