The second time I use “Instagram Reel”. I am learning the importance of “deliverying the message”, and short video like Reel is something I need to learn & invest my time more. So, on top of all stories, Youtube Videos (Long-One), and Sashiko Workshops, I will try to condence my messages here as well. Let’s see what (how) I can do.

☆

I do NOT want you to define Sashiko & Boro so easily without cultural context. However, a definition is necessary to keep learning as well. For me, Sashiko is a form of (hand) stitching, and Boro is one result of repetitive Sashiko. You may start from here to find your own Sashiko & Boro: with learning the Japanese Culture & Mindset.

Finally, a copy of the PieceWork Summer 2021 issue has arrived. I cannot describe how grateful I feel to the PieceWork team to respect my writing style & nuance in their magazine. It has been very challenging to “write” for publications (I had several very painful experiences). However, as long…

This Boro, very badly torn one, became a Japanese working trousers so called Momohiki. The good Boro Momohiki looks like the well-taken-care-of Denim under Natural Sun Light. ☆ I didn’t anticipate this torn Boro becomes so cool. I have a lot to learn… well, this lead us to have a…

Designer labels just straight out coming up with a product and calling it “Boro” though. Actual people, in actual factories, distressing indigo fabric with actual rotary tools then repairing it, and the company calling it Boro. Actually doing this.

Sashiko is random stitching? Boro is a organized even pattern?
