I offer “Sashiko Class”. For 2021, mainly Online. For 2022, several in-person classes. A frequent question is about “Core & Essence”. It is difficult to explain the “Core & Essence” without actual practice, and therefore, I offer the class. My class isn’t something like “Let’s enjoy Sashiko Together” or “Let’s learn how to draw patterns together”. The class is strictly a learning experience of “stitching”. You would be tired after the class (or they would feel easy because they took it online). If you care about “controlling the needle to make even stitches”, then it will be an eye-opening experience.

☆

How about the other “information(how-to)” such as how to prepare the pattern without using the stancil so that we can adjust the size & stitch on any fabric? I offer the videos for free. Some friends advised me that I should offer “Webinar” to teach that: I am hesitant to “teach for class fee” because I shared it all for free already… but I may do it in the same style I did for the first Webinar. How to draw/prepare the “Asano-Ha” Pattern. Although All the materials are already on Youtube Video for free, would anyone be interested in joining the Webinar (Free Ticket with donation option).

☆

The Class “Core & Essence of Sashiko” is the fruit of my 30+ years (with break in-between). However, everything else, including the stories here: I consider them as “something to share”, as “Grandma’s Recipe”. If you can (only if & when you can), please consider a support for what I do. Taking class, Purchasing supplies from me, Reading 130+ stories on Patreon… all of them are great support for me to keep going. I do not change my priorities: It is you who care the whole story of Sashiko instead of something easy & flashy.

Our goal is to share the Sashiko we practice. Then, what would we like to see after that? I would like to be part of a community – where anyone who likes Sashiko can belong to – without judgement. Therefore, it is very important to explain the Sashiko we practice….

“Sashiko (Hand-stitching) reminds me of the Japanese part of myself.” ☆ When I received this message, I felt like a hummer hit my head. Probably, this is “it”. This may be why I work so hard to communicate the importance of “respecting the Japanese culture” behind it. ☆ A practice…

I have been “reparing” something non-fancy such as socks and underwear. I start realizing that Sashiko can be a small tiny remedy for the social theme. “mass production mass consumption” to “Some production Some consumption” ++ I am translating the blog post I wrote in Japan to English. Coming up…
