Finally, a copy of the PieceWork Summer 2021 issue has arrived. I cannot describe how grateful I feel to the PieceWork team to respect my writing style & nuance in their magazine. It has been very challenging to “write” for publications (I had several very painful experiences). However, as long as I do not give up, the voice will be heard/read by someone who respectfully cares for them.

It isn’t an article about “How to do Sashiko beautifully”. It is an extension of what I always write here – the article is very similar to the 100+ articles on Patreon. The difference is, in this time, the article went through the professional editors eyes. It means a lot to me – that I can share what I really want to share without compromising or adjusting to someone’s convenience.

記事を掲載頂いた雑誌。やっと手元に届きました。無料でインタビューに応えるのでもなく、またボランティアで文章を書くのでもなく、お金を頂いて英語で文章を書き、そして出版物に掲載して頂くという、とても嬉しい一歩となりました。これまでも取材頂いたりしたことは多々あるのですが、僕が書きたいことを書いた文章を、ほぼほぼそのまま掲載頂くというのはとても大きな一歩だったりします（文法のミスで現行は真っ赤でしたが）。

「どうやって綺麗な刺し子をするのか」とか「刺し子の針の使い方」とかっていう、ハウツーではなく、「運針と、その運針会にご参加下さった皆様と作るジャケットへの思い」を4ページにも渡って掲載下さいました。運針会にご参加下さった皆様の協力がなければ形にならなかった作品であり、また記事です。本当にありがとうございます！こうやって、少しずつ積み重ねて行けたら良いなと思っています。ゆっくりでも良い。諦めず妥協せず。
