It may be a bit of a “last minutes” announcement, and I am not sure if it is appropriate to “advertise” the in-person workshop now. However, it is important to support not only the artist but also a place where artists can be the artists. So here it is.

☆

I am offering the first 3-days long Sashiko workshop in Florida, Aya Fiber Studio, from 5/12 to 5/14. I just learned that there was cancellation and there may be a spot available. If you are interested, please visit their website (https://www.ayafiberstudio.com/) and ask Suzanne about the availability. My regular workshop completes in 6 hours or so. In this time, in their beautiful studio, I expand the experience to learn what “Sashiko and Boro ” is by offering actual practice with applying the principle they learn. I want participants to experience as much as I can think of – so I end up with putting a lot of items in the workshop material package… as much as it is a great opportunity for me to teach, again, I would like to support the beautiful studio like Aya Fiber Studio for the future. If you are near FL, or can travel to FL, please consider joining it there. It will be a good retreat with a lot of stitching.

☆

(As of now, I do not have any plans for an In-person workshop for 2021 besides this one. I also would like to support the studio as much as I can. If this is too far, please consider the Online Sashiko Class. Thank you.)

Continued from the previous post, I occasionally wonder what “Sashiko” can offer to you here. What I share is so ordinary to me that it takes some time to realize the significance of it. My last 6 years in Sashiko in English was like that. In 2016, no videos/description about…

When a Japanese person hears the word “Sashiko” today, they probably would think of a cloth of Fukin – on the white Sarashi fabric with colorful threads & beautiful patterns. We sometimes call it “Hana-Fukin”. In my understanding, it is absolutely one style of Sashiko. However, you can tell that…

When i saw “last minute,” I thought you meant it was happening today haha. You’ve got plenty of time! You’re too kind to others to be as organized as you are (I’m always late to everything, and “last minute” for me really means down to the last possible minute 😂)
