Our Sashiko Story to Your Sashiko Journey

We teach how to enjoy the rhythm in Sashiko. We would rather them to enjoy the process than the result of how “beautiful” they are. However, at the same time, when they enjoy the similar rhythm in similar posture, the result becomes pretty similar in a good even way. This Noragi Jacket is made from 18 people’s Sashiko stitching patchwork together – all of them enjoyed Sashiko in the rhythm. We are happy to have fun together.

UnshinKai Jacket (20)
Directed by Keiko Futatsuya with collaborating with 17 Online Sashiko Class Students’ Sashiko stitching (Class taught by Atsushi @SashikoStory in Japanese)

Estimate production lead time: 10 months.
MSRP: $3,000.00 and up.

Completely one of a kind Jacket. We will again ask the students to join the Jacket. This jacket will contribute to support the (rising) Sashiko artisans in Japan.

I strongly believe in the importance of “supporting the rising artisans”. In the past, craftsmen were supported by the local community because of its necessity. The artisans became artisans because there were people who appreciated their craftsmanship. Industrial Revolution and following globalization offered a better standard of living, but the…

As many people acknowledge the importance of the [Sustainability], it is a critical concern for us as well. We are a “for-profit” organization. Therefore, it is important to think about growth… Yet, I try to focus on sustainability outside of the excessive competition in pricing. It is natural that a…

    There’s such peace in being in tune with other humans (especially across time as well). What a wonderful thing to translate into the physical world–and so beautifully, too 😍😍😍
