I received a kind & thoughtful suggestion for our business. It was about our packaging to use less plastic. In fact, we can accommodate their preference to “No Plastic Packaging” when they agree to the term below & indicate their choice. I am happy to make a “Plastic” free packaging when a customer understands the risk. (https://upcyclestitches.com/eco-sashiko-packages/)

I have 2 mindful reasons for me using the plastic packaging in today’s society. Many of our products are very fragile from water damage. The thread may change its character if the water was applied in an accidental case before using it. Needles & thimble & thread clippers may get rusty sooner, some of the paper products will be completely useless after the water damage. Therefore, I spend extra care for the water protection. The risk of damaged packages with water is very low, and it may look “over-packaging” for most of the orders. However, your order is NOT one of many. You are the only one who received the order. Zero risk is what I need to look for in this matter. If you are happy with accepting the risk, please let me know when you check out so that I can change to plastic free packaging.

Second reason is more pathetic… money. I have once researched if I could use good water-protective materials yet to make them more environmentally friendly. There are options, but more costly. I do not want to increase the shipping fee or product price because of this modification. If you would like to help me to change our packaging standard, please help me to get funds for that (On Patreon, or as donation. I will use your money as you indicate for this packaging).

I totally agree with the importance of environmental caring. I care, therefore, I use the plastic for now until I get the sustainable condition for me, for customers, and for the environment. Thank you very much for your understanding.

I live in a very humid, rainy climate and yes, our mail is often damp so I do appreciate your thoughtfulness about caring for my purchase. I do believe in (and in many ways do live) an environmental friendly life but until there are reasonably priced options sometimes it is the best choice even though I do try my best to make better choices.
This is great to know this is an option!
@upcyclestitches IT is such a difficult decision to take … no one likes using plastic nowadays but it has to be practice and protecting the product … recently I changed packaging for my kits and one bag of Indigo powder broke in the kit box while travelling … such a disaster for the customer who received it 🤦 it’s not as simple as it seems
