Another Masterpiece from Sashi.Co & Keiko Futatsuya. I wonder how many of these fantastic Sashiko Jackets can be produced. In Covid Pandemic, we realize the importance of appreciating the “normal”. What we can do is to simply keep stitching with hope to be able to make another one again.

There are many reasons why I do not consider “Sashiko” as Art. However, when I think of these Sashiko Jackets as “an exchange of equivalence” to their lives, then this Jacket is the wearable Art. The “Art” shouldn’t be an excuse to ignore the essence for doing whatever. Keiko is not considering herself as the “Artist”, yet all of her time & passion, more importantly, “joy” is within the Sashiko Jacket.

昔からの慣習で、冬から春にかけて刺し子作品が出来上がってきます。会社時代は沢山理由があって、「冬の閑散期にひたすら作る」とか「春先の展示会に向けて作品を揃える」など、冬に作られる理由も多々あったのですが、そういう理由が少なくなった今でも、恵子さんの作品は冬に沢山出来上がってきます。もう少し正確に言うと、何着（個）も同時進行していた作品作りが一段落するのが、冬の時期……なんでしょうね。今年もそんな感じです。ここ10年くらい、ずっとそんな感じ。

10年前は考えなかった事。「あと何着、こういう刺し子ジャケットができるんだろう……」。いつか、皆様に私達の作品を”着て、触って、感じて頂く”展示会ができたら良いなぁと思うのです。愚直に。そんなに遠い未来は見据えず、今できることを。そんな恵子さんと、恵子さんの信頼するお友達とが向き合う刺し子が、このジャケットです。
