I received many requests to write about the details of Hari Kuyou – the requiem

atsushijp, 2020年12月10日

I received many requests to write about the details of Hari Kuyou – the requiem service for broken needles. The article is available from the this account’s “Story” (since the article is long, it is on Patreon)

☆

I shared this IG account with my friend to explain what I do. She was surprised and called me an “influencer”. I am not sure what “influencer” is, but I have now 31K+ followers. I started IG with a few followers. I really appreciate you for reading my writing every day.

☆

The numbers of followers are not so important to me. I care “who follows” more than “how many”. Therefore, I share my honest insight. I don’t use “flattery”. The “unfollow rate” is about 20~30%… I don’t know about the other account statistics, but I am proud of the followers I have – you – who care to learn more instead of reacting something instantaneous. Thank you for your care and willingness to learn.

☆

I am happy to have more followers, of course. Your voice to spread this account is very appreciated. What I mean is that I do not plan to be an “influencer” in a general definition. You will get puzzled (and annoyed) if I start advertising an expensive watch… right? We do not represent a brand in even the crafting industry. There are reasons for that as well. (1) We sell/offer only items we use/liked & (2) I want to support a (small) company to keep it sustainable. I am here to share, and the goal is to make Sashiko sustainable somehow. I want you to know the whole picture of Sashiko – the Sashiko you see now may be just a part of it. Thank you for finding us, following us, and supporting us.

(@sashiko_dad)。

Some misunderstand us for being “stubborn to the Change”. Some even “advise” me that I need to accept change in Sashiko. Well. Trust me. I am the one who tried the “changes” in Sashiko the most in this world. Color. Pattern. Application. Design – even mindset – I tried to…

I found the very similar hole on the same spot on my sock… Doing “reinforcing stitching” on the part of fabric we use aggressively. ☆ Practical Stitching with the purpose. It is the origin of Sashiko. I, of course, will add another patch on the sock and see how it…

Thank you for sharing such an abundance of knowledge of what Sashiko is, its history, your feelings and insight. In my opinion, I really believe you should write a book about Sashiko. It is really needed. There are over a dozen on the market but they are all really incomplete because they don’t go into the history, the culture and all the valuable insight and knowledge you share with us for free here. There is a good publisher I know of in Japan, Yoshi-San, who I would highly recommend to you if you ever would consider it. I believe he would get the book the right exposure it needs to the exact audience that it would be of great interest to. 🙏🏾

Thank you so much for your work and attention to detail, as well as sharing with us. I’m old school in the sense that I do read posts, not just press “like”.

I found you & your words to be the exact solace I am seeking in this exact moment.
Know thyself, which you so clearly do. Explain just a little, but carry on with integrity to your craft and mission, is the lesson I have received from your writings. These are the gifts you have shared and I hope to impart in my own little world of IG. It is true IG is a little world and in the real world, the graciousness in being happy/ loved / loving is what is most beautiful . Authentically sharing with your valued followers makes a real difference. I am touched by your words and your craft.
