I say Sashiko isn’t just a trend for us. You may wonder, “what is it, then?”. For me, one description would be, “Sashiko is a word for millions of stories”. The stories which consist of who I am today. (Sashiko is a form of hand-stitching practice(d) by Japanese in Japan).
☆
I am proud of my hands. I love my hands. The hands tell a lot of stories. This is the hands I have received from many grandmas (artisans) – Not only stitching but everything I do for supporting my family today. Keiko (my mother) also has good hands, and Sashiko done by her hands are just amazing. I hope I am sharing “working hands” over the Live Streaming.

This is a beautiful statement/story. Yes, I love my hands and have learned from my mother and grandmother and others I didn’t know. There are times I do something with my hands and see my mother’s hands. These times are warm wonderful memories.
💕
I too see my mother’s hands. As a child I remember passing the time in church holding and pouring over my mothers and grandmothers hands. The softness, the wrinkles, the veins, and the age spots. Now they are mine.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom and your wonderful work. More than an artisan you are a custodian of a world heritage skill and cultural tradition that would be lost if there were not people like . 👏👏👏
I love my hands. They are my father’s kind hands in a smaller size. From watching him, I know these hands can learn to fix anything, serve those who I love, make meals etc.
I have my mother’s hands. We have a complicated relationship so it’s a complicated answer.
Always have
I also have my mother’s hands, being creative in a different way, but taught from those hands. I miss holding my mother’s hand and learning from them. 💕
