刺し子には、「これだ！」という正解はありません。基本的に、日本語を話して、日本に住んで、当たり前のように日本文化に浸かっている方の針仕事であれば、（そのご本人が希望すれば）刺し子で良いんじゃないかなぁと思っています。勿論、刺し子と呼ばなくてもOK。ただ、正解はありませんが、「なんでも良い」訳ではありません。この「日本人らしさ」が何よりも大切だと思っています。

言語とは面白いもので、翻訳の過程で本質を見誤ると（見抜けないままだと）、その文化を塗り変えてしまう可能性を持っています。僕が「日本（人）の刺し子と襤褸」という少し面倒で仰々しい書き方をしているのは、その本質をしっかり伝えたいと思っているからです。刺し子という言葉には、沢山の日本人らしさが詰まっているような気がするんですよね。
