A few months ago, NYT  Magazine wrote a column from the interview with me. I shared how I would “mend” items. I thought it would be easier to show the process in addition to my interview. The pants with Sashiko mending are completed after 10 hours or so of stitching. All of the process is available on the Live Streaming on Youtube. I plan to make a video summarizing the whole process into 10~20 minutes (hopefully).

The mending (for now) is completed. However, it is merely the start of another life with this pants. I will wear it again, use it again, and would need to mend again. Spirit exist in the ordinary process, not much in the self-assertion.

Speaking from the Sashiko stitcher’s point of view, there is no vivid boundary between Sashiko & Boro. They are on the same line of hand-stitching with care. It is not like “Sashiko or Boro”. It is like, “Sashiko and then Boro”. The exhibition of authentic Boro is opening this Friday…

I still enjoy this “patching” on Denim. I appreciate many support for the previous post. I will maximize my opportunities & potential – and I will do my best. At the same time, I will still secure the time of stitching. I believe I will lose the credential when I…

This is an archive of Sashiko Live Streaming in English, on Friday October 2nd. I often wonder what “the beauty in Imperfection” means in Japan. The last 2 days, I talked about this concept, and here is a Live Streaming summarising what I feel when I hear the phrase. Thanks…

Can I ask what your plan is for these? I’ve always wanted a white pair of pants and these are amazing!

A little bleach might help to get the stains out.
