Sashiko Live Streaming, September 4th
I was worried if I would talk with just negativity due to the horrible comment I had received on Youtube. Thanks to the 90 minutes Japanese Live Streaming, I could calm down (and burned out) so that I could explain what was going on & how I felt it.
In order to be successful in this society, being good at “telling” is the must. The message is supposed to be efficient and compact. It is the responsibility of “people who share the culture” to be precise and easy to understand. However, at the same time, listeners/readers/learners also have a responsibility to be mindful. It is perfectly okay to have a wonder and disagreement. However, it is NOT Okay to accuse a person without any deep thought or proper research.
It isn’t just a comment – it is a harrassment. I will not stand by it.

👏
I hope you’re able to shake off that person’s YouTube comments. It looks like came from such a hateful place without any understanding of what you were referring to. It was presumptuous of her to say such incorrect things to you and to make such broad generalizations of Japan and Japanese society. She really centered her experience in a place that did NOT need it. I also think that had a woman been teaching what was in your video, she would make the same comment, quite jokingly, too, because it is a joke often made that many women complain about their husbands and lives when they are able to get together. I think it would have been taken lightheartedly.
Please keep sharing your work and teachings, and don’t let this person change what you do and how you do it. As someone who is Chinese/Taiwanese-American, it’s always nice to see people sharing things from their cultural experience and perspective in a way that gives context and recognizes the actual traditions and practices.
You have been doing this so long that you probably don’t need to draw out your design!! Lovely work!!
I watched your Japanese live streaming even with my very limited Japanese I understood that you talked about it , I went to that persons long winded message and really I could not how out of contexts it was.
Look at it this way instead of women doing sashiko and escaping their household to talk freely over sashiko with friends you get to talk freely over sashiko with your sashiko friends I hope it helped to vent
Me gustó tu trabajo, gracias!!
