A bright moment in SNS where I find “it”. It wouldn’t happen if I just published a book. Please check the comments by @beth_lorio in yesterday’s post. It made my day.

☆

Before I started sharing Sashiko stories like this, one advised me that I shouldn’t share my knowledge for free online. They said “Anyone can steal” and I should protect it, or focus on publishing a book (so it will be protected). I felt a bit strange and didn’t know why. As much as a publication is my dream, writing a book proposal wasn’t the priority in this big wave of “possible cultural miswording of Sashiko”. I appreciated their advice, but it didn’t sit in my stomach well – I didn’t quite get their advice, I guess.

☆

Now I understand the advice was “to protect the ownership” of my knowledge. Don’t worry. I will keep sharing because I have 2 very strong reasons that “sharing my wisdom” won’t damage my life. I shared 2 reasons on my Patreon Page since this post become too long. Please check our Patreon page (https://www.patreon.com/sashiko) – Sashiko Journey Extra-1.

☆

I feel my mission is to become a bridge between Japanese and Non-Japanese philosophy – a bridge between old and young – a bridge between past and future. Honestly, I do not want to “own” Sashiko. It is probably the reason I was “unknowingly” hesitant to write a publication proposal. I had been hating my life until recently – now, I found my mission (and happiness to pass it down).

☆

I appreciate every one who respects the Sashiko, and especially those who support my days in various ways. Thank you for this great space.

☆

とても良いお話をコメントで頂きました。土曜日の配信と日本語ブログで語りますね!

One of the scariest things in “Trend” is the power of “numbers”. In many cases, capitalism rules over the cultural aspect of the “matter”. Here, Sashiko. It is quite simple. Sashiko is popular → Many potential customers → Businesses go to Mass production → Cheaper option in the market (over…

Society asks you to be someone special. They say, “Find true-self within you”, and encourage you to be the “Only One” by doing something. They teach you how to be creative as if creativity clears your suffering. If “creativity is the greatest rebellion in existence (Quote from Osho)”, what they…

Hand-made Samue (Workman Style Jacket), adjusted for toddler sizing with Japanese Denim. We didn’t add Sashiko stitching. Once the Samue is used, I will be more than happy to add some Sashiko stitching. Sashiko is a form of care, and stitching. ☆…

You are a brilliant and inspiring man! I was in your sashiko class last August at Loop of the Loom and now am sharing what you taught me. Your website is the only one I recommend to those I teach.❤️
