Thank you very much for the many responses to the Sashiko Needle. The one I recommend is the needle offered by Sashi.Co (@Sashi.Co). You should be able to jump to the product page from this Instagram post.

The Tulip Big Eye Straight (BES) is also very good. The “thin” BES is very similar to the Sashiko needle we usually use & offered by Sashi.Co. In fact, we provided our opinion/feedback to the Tulip Needle Company when they were in the development phase. Keiko in Sashi.Co demonstrated her Sashiko stitching in Tulip Needle Company’s booth then BES made its debut. Therefore, I carry several needles from 2 brands (Sashi.Co & Tulip Needle) for the general Sashiko stitching. (Kogin/Hishi requires a completely different characteristic in a needle).

Due to the current International shipping situation, I cannot restock some of the items. I decided to list a few boxes of Tulip BES from my own inventory (for my own project) with the expectation that I should be able to receive the package soon. If you get confused, get the one by Sashi.Co (unfortunately we do not wholesale these needles so only available in our store). If it is difficult to get Sashi.Co’s needle, get the Tulip Big Eye Straight (not any other Tulip needles for Sashiko purposes).

The Quality is, of course, supreme. At the same times, there are many reasons why we use these specific needles. The “many stories” about the Sashiko needles can be found on our website. (https://upcyclestitches.com/sashiko-needle-eye-reason-of-the-best-needle/)

I hope it helps. The good needle, a good thimble (it also makes a difference), and appropriate Sashiko thread. I wouldn’t be able to stitch what I am sharing online without these needles, thimbles, and the threads.

I am struggling with the thimble 😩. I have a ring by clover but I can’t keep the needle to “sit” securely in the ring. Leather, the needle stays secure, but it is otherwise exhausting.
copped this morning can’t wait to use it
Just ordered both sizes of Tulip needles. They are the best .
Here in argentina we only can get the sashico needle from.clover, and its so expensive.so we have to be flexible and use what we can afford and get in common needle shops.
Could you please advise, the needle size 0.84×51.5 – is it thin or not?
I love this info! So helpful, thanks
