I appreciate the comment you leave. Although I don’t reply to all of them, I read all of them carefully. Thank you. Some asked me the same question, “Why did I hate Sashiko in my childhood/youth”. Let me ask you back. Why Not to hate? Please think about it. I was born in a Sashiko family in Japan. “What I do (for living)” was already determined before realizing “who I am”. Many enjoy Sashiko as a choice today. The Japanese originally practiced Sashiko out of necessity. For me… well… there is a reason I can speak English. I wanted to go away from it, as far as possible. ☆
As I keep writing, I welcome everyone here. However, I do not tolerate the disrespect – which is more like minimizing (ignoring) what we had(have) gone through. Sashiko is simple. Very Simple. However, there are stories behind it, and minimizing the culture is denying their existence. What I try to share is a long story, which I haven’t even concluded yet. If you are interested, please consider supporting this via Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/sashiko). I am sharing my own insight & personal history regarding Sashiko there, where I can feel safe to do so. (SNS isn’t so safe for sharing the personal stories). ☆

“All different and All Good”. I believe the Sashiko (especially done by Unshin without focusing on the result) represent the stitcher themselves. As there is no “right and wrong” in humans, (I believe there are no “wrong” humans as who we are), there is no such thing as “Right and…

In today’s society with the Internet, anyone can say anything on any topics. We as readers/listeners have to be mindful of what we are reading/listening, and learning. Unlike the past, nothing will validate one’s practice but oneself. I can only hope, but I sincerely hope you are learning Sashiko(and Boro)…

I decided to step out of my comfortable zone to protect my own identity. Only one way I found to protect is “to share” my own stories so that someone may receive & keep the Sashiko I have been living with. I was born with being “decided” to be the…

I did ask this question on a previous post. I think the question I should have asked is whether you were surrounded by it from a young age when you did not yet have a deeper understanding of it. Thank you

The jacket is so beautiful and rich in your culture. Very magical texture ! You saw the trade as a hardship when someone like myself would have loved to have learned this awe inspiring artistry. We all see things differently which makes us all human❣

I can respect your views on being “expected” to participate in a craft, not of your choosing. Then to discover its significance in your life. Your work is magnificent. I hope to take a course from you someday @ QuiltCon
