Born in a Sashiko Family. Raised by an eccentric (in a good way) mother. I naturally believe in “Animism”. I believe the existence of 氣 (Ki – Qi/Aura/Spiritus/Psyche/Pneuma/Ruah/Prana). Something invisible, yet hugely affecting us. Something that the perfect algorithm cannot calculate. Similar concepts exist in many other cultures – and I am enjoying learning more (I am proud of myself learning English for this matter…) ☆
Therefore, since I believe in “氣”, I prepare the order with my own hands. In “business strategy”, it is probably “smart” to outsource them or hire someone to do so, but I will not change this. If I receive too many orders that I cannot handle, then I will limit the access to the webstore. For me, the moment of thinking about the customer (to be Sashiko-friend) is the first important & possibly “only” opportunity to deliver the care I would like to pass down. “What to buy (with the best deal)” is important. Furthermore, I would like to share the importance of “Who to buy from”. Do you feel something from the photo of my denim mending? If you do, I believe you will feel something when you receive the package from me.

Over the last weekend, before it gets too hot & humid here, I worked outside in our backyard. Normal routine work, but then I realized my pinky finger doesn’t move well, following with a bit of pain. On Sunday, I cooked dinner for 2 families (of course, without this taping)….

The word “Sashiko” has its own “foot (wing)” to fly away. Some say it is how the “culture” should be – keep changing. I agree that the culture should alter its form. However, the change has to be done mindfully & respectfully – not by someone’s filtering for their profit…

Today, if you can, please sit down and stitch for a while. Just stitch. Stop searching for answers by asking Google & Alexa, and stop focusing on how we should be. Close your eyes. Feel the fabric, needle, and thread. Then, let the needle move to make stitches. Although I…

I have been enjoying watching you learn English & your translation to English of important points of view improve. In such a short time that I have been following you, you have made huge improvement. I am wondering if in your frustration in teaching your daughter at home this has helped you to improve your expression in English also. Well done & keep up the thought provoking posts.
