I appreciate @lildenimjean for finding us. We all hand-stitch the Sashiko on the Denim – to follow the origin of Sashiko – to make the fabric stronger. The completion of initial Sashiko is merely a start of the Denim. Everyone who loves denim will understand the importance of “the flow of time” to make the denim so precious (like creating “colors”). It applies to Sashiko, I believe. The strengthened fabric will get damaged eventually, then we stitch again and hide the repair. However, overtime, the “hidden repair” will be shown outside. ☆

Focusing on the result (design) of “Boro” will not make the piece like “Japanese Boro”. The result of focusing on a process of the ordinary (of using & mending) is Boro. I hope the trend of Boro will also understand the importance of “ordinary process” rather than “creativity as an artist”. The Sashiko denim is one of my passion to share the concept in today’s society. ☆

A jacket patchworking 14 participants’ Sashiko stitching. Sashiko occasionally can be lonely work. My goal is to provide a place (community) where they can belong to and feel comfortable. 14 of workshop graduates (in Japan) took in charge of Sashiko stitching, and Keiko completed it as one significant Sashiko Jacket….
