I am quite tired. It is my goal to share the Sashiko we are proud of. However, I never force (beg) someone to follow me or join the group. I am here to share – not to spoon-feed someone. Why the f__k do I have to encourage someone to share their understanding of Sashiko? I am not asking for an opinion. (I’m talking about an issue on FB). ☆
I welcome everyone as long as they respect the Sashiko culture (take off their shoes). Why do I have to create a good hospitality or positive (probably “easy-going”) atmosphere? I am here to protect my own identity. Why do I have to serve the tea when they do not take off their shoes in the house? ☆
It is easy to create good hospitality. If my goal is to make money, I will keep smiling even if a customer doesn’t take off his/her shoes. That’s what many stores are doing. I don’t do that so I can protect something important, which may be too late to do so, while others are just selling the Sashiko items without sharing the cultural aspect. ☆
Thanks to many supporters, I can keep going. However, in this unknown society, I may not be as strong as before. It is a hard time for many people. Please, please know that there are people behind the “culture” you are enjoying. – ☆ – – – ☆

Well said

There’s a lot of insecurity in the world of hand crafts. I come from a pottery background and I see that insecurity all the time in “Art vs Craft” debates… I see it in heated discussions about functional vs non-functional pottery. There are potters whose body of work is suck that they can get astonishingly high prices for a simple mug, and others who will always find themselves defending their prices at art fairs. Sashiko and Boro have gotten a lot of international attention in the past few years. They synch up well with interest in quilting and visible mending. Most people don’t look deeper than the context of their first exposure. It’s a little like a band that has a current hit song. People think “Oh, them… They did that song… I know what they sound like…” but nothing else they’ve ever recorded sounds anything like that song. In fact, the people who really like the band and listen to all their stuff are really starting to hate that song because nobody really gets how superficial popularity is…
Очень плохой автоперевод, но я поняла вашу мысль и поддерживаю вашу позицию. Сохранение самобытность на все времена. Успехов вам и крепкого здоровья!
I am a stitcher, though not a sashiko stitcher, but I get it. The concept of losing myself in the moment of stitching. I am reminded of a quote that I believe was of Buddha – that Buddhism was for people with minds of little dust. Maybe sashiko is like that. The concept that the real sashiko that you know and respect is not available to everyone. 🙏💕

If people on your FB page stopped and read then digested what your message is they would change their ways instead of their quest for fast food 🥘 they need to slow down .
Nice👌👌👌👌

Sorry. One last thing before I let you go.
You wrote: “The use of the word does not require an inclusion on its history.” Can I understand your point of view as this sentence describe? (Is the original comment deleted? I hope I didn’t delete it).
Dearest Atsushi, I have only recently started following you and have watched several of your youtubes. You have opened my eyes to so much about sashiko and boro and the respect that these deserve.
I just wanted to say thank you and hope that you can move past the frustration that is facebook
Thank you for your art.
I appreciate your thoughtful works.
