atsushijp, 2020年3月30日

In this crisis, I set one goal. It is to make my wife & daughter laugh 5 times a day. It has been quite successful. In addition to my commitment to prepare 99% of the meal by myself, I try to “keep the ordinary” in the extraordinary crisis. An elderly lady told me that we can overcome most of the difficulty when we have “warm food” and “laugh”. It was so powerful because she was in the worst possible crisis back then… Ever since, I try to provide my family with warm food & laugh. The meal doesn’t have to be hand-made. It can be just warm. Laugh can be anything – I don’t mind being an “idiot” to cheer them up. ☆
While stitching, I receive a lot of messages. Those messages are not from “anywhere”. They are from my memories of receiving so much wisdom in my life. Keep stitching. It will give us the “Ordinary” in where we have to prepare for the extraordinary.

I often say “All Different, All Good” when I teach Sashiko. It is my brief answer to the frequent question – “What is a good size for Sashiko”. All stitches “can be” a good size when a stitcher keeps learning what Sashiko is for us. What I teach is not…

@sashi.co Inspiring post and beautiful stitching – thank you! What is the stitch on the outer edge of your work? I love how it outlines the entire piece.
