I would never say my hand is beautiful from a cosmetic perspective. I use & depends on my hand so heavily, in Sashiko, in house work, and pretty much everything. I prefer the bare hand so I can “feel”. After so much “work”, the skin gets worse and worse. However, I am kind of proud of this hand. My word is my commitment. My hand represents who I am. ☆
It is not recommended to shake hands now. Social Distance is more important than anything. However, (therefore), please hold hands with your family who live together. Hands can communicate more than words. Also, it doesn’t require the physical contact to feel the connection via hands. Your neighbor is not your enemy. Don’t be scared or rude. You can communicate by showing your hands – say hello. I am once again starting to feel the “power of hands”. I believe Sashiko is “caring” with the power of our hands. We are human – and we can do good. ☆

When I ask the question, “What do you like about Sashiko?”, one frequent reply is about “relaxing, healing, soothing, and calming”. Yes, indeed, Sashiko is comforting. Since it is your foreign word, I want you to keep digging, though. Why is Sashiko so calming? There are 2 angles: (1) the…

I finally had a chance to film how to make a cute thread ball. I will edit them and upload with some instruction. Thank you for the request & sorry it took so long. 2017-12-15 16:43:02 Source

“Boro” is now understood as the word for “patchworking” for ecological purposes – even as the technique to patchwork the fabric. Often, a practitioner interprets this concept as the way to “connect” recycled (vintage) fabric to enlarge the fabric piece. Personally, I do not think the core of Boro doesn’t…

❤️ so true. A friendly wave of a hand to your neighbour at this time is a great gesture too.

All hands are beautiful to me because I know what they are capable of – the strength, the steadiness, the craft. When touch is forbidden, waving must suffice. Thank you for showing your hands.
