Fabric doesn’t become “Boro” without stitching. We call that Japanese hand-stitching, resulting in Boro, as Sashiko. I am proud of our journey of sharing Sashiko today, which is like creating the future of Boro by enjoying Sashiko. We also keep making Sashiko pieces. Let’s surprise the world together

恵子さんのプロジェクト、SashiCo (刺し子でデザインする）の2020年の新作ジャケットです。柄が面白いのはもちろんのこと、何色かの草木染糸で刺し子をすることによって、光の当たり方で少し立体的に見える感じがします。米国と日本での国境を超えた親子プロジェクトで、日々なんとか形にはできているのですが、実物を触れないのが本当に悔しいし寂しい。そりゃ理想は一緒にできればとは思うのですが、でも、一緒じゃないからこそできることもあったりして。10月の日本帰国、無事形になれば良いなぁと思っています。まじで。

Love your work, everything is absolutely stunning! I’ve been very interested in Japanese stitching and sashiko for a while but never knew anyone around in Nebraska who did it. Taking inspiration from both of you to try picking it up… will see whatever ebooks, books, and videos I can find to learn some basics. Hoping to take a workshop from you, too, when I visit next!
