When I share photos of a big Sashiko project, like Sashiko Jackets or Sashiko Denims, I occasionally get a question, “Is it really hand-stitched”? The answer is, “Yes, it is hand-stitched”. I received the same question many times in my life that the question is no longer disrespectful. It may require a bit of “technique” and “wisdom” to complete this much stitching. If we make stitches one by one… we wouldn’t be able to complete the stitching (although it will require hundreds of thousands of hours regardless of the techniques). A photo of a close up of some Hitomezashi Sashiko. I hope you feel the beauty of hand-stitching there. The fabric & stitches “talk” to some people. ☆

When I do Sashiko at night, I remember my father who passed away. While I work on the PC, he moved his needle after all of daily routine work. — Heart Sutra Sashiko is one of the works he was working on, and a very few of these that I…

In this age of machine-made fabrics, it is sometimes hard to believe in the power of the human hand to create such beauty.
