This is why I like a long straight line in Sashiko stitching. This is why I call it running stitches – Sashiko is not about making one perfect stitch. It is about enjoying the movement of needles, and stitches are the result of enjoying the process. ☆

今日もグダグダ配信にお付き合い頂きありがとうございました。真骨頂というか、終わった後に、「あれ、今日は何を話したんだっけ？」という、刺し子をしながら雑談をするという時間でした。その後の英語配信の方が、声にチカラがはいるトピックだった程に。

刺し子は運針が大切だと思っています。ただ、勿論ですが、運針だけで完結するものじゃないです。美しい刺し子の結果を作るために、運針と同等以上に大切なのが、「糸コキ」だったりします。力の入れ具合だけの話なのですが、足りないと布がつってしまうし、下手すると針目が浮いてしまいます。絶対的な答えはなくて、それこそ布との会話が必要になってきます。上手にできると気持ちいいのも糸コキの醍醐味ですね。こんな当たり前の作業なのですが、まだまだ僕も失敗ばかりです。配信中でも、上手に行った時は密かに嬉しく思っていたりしているのです。
