Upon a request. Here is the “inside” of Atsushi’s “on-going” Boro Jacket. “Inside” is usually a “hiding” side, which deeply related to the Japanese sense of shame… so, if I were a peasant from the 17 century in Japan, I may not be sharing this photo. ☆
From the Art perspective, many say this “inside” is supposed to be the “outside (outer)”. I understand that. At the same time, please learn that there is a “story” we intended to make it “inside”. It is not a Boro to be displayed for watching. This is the Boro Jacket we keep mending, and then see if this can be a Boro piece in the year of 2XXX. In order to make it happen, we need to use the best quality supply & tool. Well, here, I hope I am communicating what is “Mottainai (too good to waste)” for? Either a small difference in the price tag or the time you would spend in your Sashiko. ☆

2019年6月28日の投稿で、ちょっとチラ見せした、襤褸ジャケットの内側。全体像もしっかり写真に撮ってありました。丁度、「”着物”という言葉の文化盗用」という動きがあった頃の話なので、結局内側の全体は見せずに終わったのかなぁと思っています。僕たちの刺し子作品の写真を集めたサイトにも残ってないしね。という訳で、内側の写真、公開です。

常々言っていますが、恵子さんは襤褸を作る刺し子をする時、昔の人と思いが重なることがあると言います。このジャケットは、「淳がNYCで襤褸を上手に紹介できますように」という思いを込めてくれた分、やっぱり想いは層のようになっているのかもしれません。そして繋がるのが昨日の投稿。これだけの刺し子をしても、気持ちよく着用できるようにしてくれるのは、「糸」なんです。触りたいと思って頂ける刺し子を、作っていけたらと思っています。
