Sashiko is indeed simple. Anyone can do that. However, it isn’t shallow. Simple doesn’t mean “easy to be masterful”. I don’t consider myself a master either. ☆
Stitching with interesting pattern is nice (like embroidery). I also would like to share the beauty created by simple running stitch & beautiful Japanese fabric (Kasuri, Shima, Komon… and many more). Collection of parallel lines can be this artistic when it is with good color & good fabric.

個人的には（完全にぼーっとできる運針と比べて）頭を使う一目刺しは、なかなか手が伸びません。ただ、刺し子の面白さとしては、一目刺しは抜群に遊べる素材です。単色の布（たとえば晒）とかに、カラフルな刺し子糸で素敵な模様を作り出していく刺し子も素敵ですが、同時に「単純な針目と似た様な色なのに、背景の布（古布）を変えることによって出てくる表情」も楽しんで貰えればと思うのです。様々な意見があって、僕はどれも大切にしたい意見なのですが、一つだけお伝えできるとしたら「食わず嫌い（刺さず嫌い）」にはなってほしくないなぁと。とてつもなく自戒を込めたメッセージです（笑）でも、一目刺しと古布（柄布 – 小紋 – 絣）って、めちゃくちゃかっこよくなる（可能性を秘めて）るんですよね。
