We spend quite a lot of time making one Sashiko item. Since all hand-stitched, every item is “one-of-a-kind” for that matter. Each piece has its own story – some stories from the vintage fabric with the (imaginable) previous owner (user), some stories from actual stitching, and the others from who we are & what we do.

This 013 Poncho has an interesting story – one of a Poncho that we put a price on yet we have not sold – I have an attachment to this fabric. I will probably share the interesting story first on Patreon, then someday here or somewhere. Fabric talks – we can communicate through the fabric. If Youtube is a time-machine to go back to the past to watch something 30 years old, Sashiko may be also a time-machine to synchronize (understand) how they enjoyed the fabric. ☆

大きな刺し子作品を作る時は、サイズに応じて時間もかかるので、様々な物語が付随するようになります。このポンチョ、見た目は地味なのですが、古布になかなか面白い話があります。そんな作品は不思議と手から離れにくいもので、どんどんと想いが重なっていく宝物のようなものにもなります。未だに僕の手元にある、柔らかくて軽くて、でもとても温かいポンチョです。明日の配信で、少し触れようかなと思っています。
