Indigo Dye Fabric (x) Indigo Dye Thread. Over time – Color changes and the patte

Indigo Dye Fabric (x) Indigo Dye Thread. Over time – Color changes and the pattern becomes more vivid. Keiko prefers stitching with similar color fabric & thread. Many people ask us why don’t we use the vivid & strong color to express ourselves. One of the reasons is that the result “at the moment of done stitching” is not the only goal for us – We plan to use it, and we enjoy the color change as a process of using after the process of stitching. If I ever come to call Sashiko “Fine-Art”, it is an art piece which continuously change its appearance over time (I don’t know if we can define something alternate overtime as Fine Art… – but that’s another topic to discuss). The power of hand-crafting here. ☆

I like doing things with my own hands. Cooking, Wood-Crafting (like simple furniture), fixing minor house issues, painting, and of course, stitching. In my youth, I tried so hard to be wealthy so that I have enough luxury to enjoy what I like. I was trying to “achieve” the happiness…

There are many stories behind my statement: “Sashiko introduced in English is NOT wrong, but insufficient”. The “trend” will never be a trend by itself. There is always a “strategy” behind it, to make the flow. It may be “someone” or “something” – unintentionally or intentionally. Sashiko is now well…

When I mention the Cultural Appropriation matter in Sashiko, I always get this question – “What is the definition of Sashiko, then?”. In a Western culture of dualism, deciding which one is justice (right) based on the logic, it is very important to have the definition. However, doubt what you…

Does the color change come with use and laundering? Will it change from oxidation if it is displayed in a decorative way? Is it the fabric that lightens or does the thread change at the same rate?
