I get many comments on the post with mending. I am sorry that I don’t have much time to reply to all of them, but I enjoy reading your comments. Thank you! Some may wonder, “Why to mend instead of purchase?”. Purchasing the new cloth/item tends to be much cheaper & easier than mending in this mass-production world. So why repair? ☆
Most of the popular reasons are not my reason, although I respect them – pollution to the environment, Sustainability, Slow-life, Mindfulness, you may know better than me. The main reason for me, well… you know the word already, “Care” is my reason for mending. Extra time to think (care) before purchasing (solving the issue) would be something I would like to pass down. After all, it is a social experiment with spending my life-times – if Sashiko (hand-stitching) can revalue who we are. I do not purchase new cloth because one mending is merely the beginning of another mending. I don’t need so many clothes/items to fully experience this experiment… Let’s see how it goes. ☆
Almost 10 years old card-case with many mending. See? “Thread” matters. ☆

Umm… I cannot make a new post with captions on the business account (@upcyclestitches). Anyone have the same issue?  ☆ I introduced a concept of “守破離 (Shuhari)” yesterday. In most of Japanese practice, there is a “basic format” so called “型 (Kata)”. Kata can be “form”, “model”, and even “mold”….

Keiko’s principle in Sashiko is quite simple. “Bring another life to the unused fabric. (She always talks to the fabric that she will bring the fabric back to the ‘main stage’ again)”. To be honest, it was pretty strange seeing my own mother talking to the fabric before finding where…

I watched a video about “a Restaurant With a Fully Functional Robotic Kitchen”. It is great to have innovations in technology. However, is this the way we, human-being, go toward…? No offence. I get so much benefit from IT and Robotics, so I am not here to judge or criticise….
