I believe many find this account by looking for something about “Sashiko”. If you are looking for a way of making money using Sashiko, then this account may make you uncomfortable. If you would like to express yourself by being an artist with Sashiko, the posts may be boring and not so inspirational. However, if you would like to continue Sashiko stitching for a long time, like as a life-long activity, and probably find peace in yourself (Self-acceptance & less judgment), and eventually somewhat enrich your days by a little bit, then I am here for you & keep following me. I am particular about the attitude – I am aware that I am strict in one aspect – but I am more confident in what I am offering now. ☆
Did Sashiko stitchers in Japan, a few hundred years ago, wanted to make money with Sashiko or become an artist by stitching Sashiko? I don’t think so. Were they happy? Probably yes and no, but I assume they were more “human-like”. I am not good at teaching how to be “successful” in Sashiko, but I am getting better at sharing “how to find (feel) happiness” with Sashiko.

We can find many kinds of descriptions about Sashiko in English. “Slow-stitching”, “Beauty in Imperfection”, “Meditative Stitching”… and you know better than I do. All of these are not “wrong”, but they are insufficient by themselves. Before defining what is “the sufficient Sashiko description”, it is critical to understand the…

As much as I need to learn how to turn up the volume of my voice, I do not really think of myself as an “Authority” of Sashiko. I know many people consider me as a “Master”, “Artist”, and “Authority”, the idea of these do not sit naturally with me…

I discovered this stitching last year and found it to be relaxing and I stitched on some jeans. No selling. How can you put a price on this slow stitch.

Well said, one must be sincere towards her crafts and $ should not be the motive for doing so. I am learning sashiko from book now and bought a kit last time when I went to Japan.

I really enjoy your posts. I started following you because I want to mend my favourite clothes and I thought sashiko looked like a beautiful technique with which I can not only mend but embellish and enhance them. My ultimate goal is to make a gardening jacket (loose shape, three quarter sleeves to they don’t get muddy, big pockets) out of lots of pairs of my old jeans, inspired by boro and sashiko techniques.
