I’m in NYC for the workshop this weekend. The workshop is very fun and makes me think about what I should do.
☆
I should be going to the “Show and Festival” to sell our products. I should be traveling around the world to offer the workshop. I should be visiting back to Japan to introduce more Sashiko photos & see my mother (I have not been back to Japan for 6 years). Why don’t I do that? Because my goal is to share the Sashiko as a whole – not only the technique or supplies – but also the mindset to appreciate & care what I have. Explaining Sashiko in the writing is as equally important to travel around the world now – so many “superficial” understanding in Sashiko. Many advise me it is the time to make wealth. I agree. However, I don’t want to do that without sharing the core – and my stories will lose its value when I do not appreciate and care for the family I have here.

I always appreciate what you write because your personal insights help me think about my own thought processes and help me work through my own dilemmas. I hope one day to be able to take one of your sashiko workshops one day. Please come to Toronto ro the Textile Museum

I think traveling and offering workshops are a fantastic way to bring the whole Sashiko into work. In Germany the people would love not just to learn the technique but also understand the history and mindset 😃. Please let me know when you will ever offer a workshop around Stuttgart (south of Germany) 😊

Connecting with you on Instagram has made me feel so much less alone as a Japanese sashiko maker. I really enjoy learning from you
