A photo of the denim pants with beautiful Asano-ha Sashiko stitching. It is not our work. A friend of ours, who we met a month ago for the first time & took the Online Class, completed this beautiful work. When I decided to offer the Online Sashiko Class, I was very much worried if I can deliver the same experience as the in-person Sashiko Workshop. She and many other friends have already proven that they can learn the same core and basic throughout the videos. It expands the possibility to share the Sashiko we practice. Sashiko is not about making one stitch – it is too slow. Sashiko is about enjoying a process of running a needle and making stitches with “Rhythm”.

4時間にも及ぶ配信にお付き合い頂き、ありがとうございました。「もうちょっと続けたかったな……」と名残惜しかったのは内緒です。独り身だったら本気で24時間やってたかもしれん（笑）

いろいろ語りましたが、簡単に纏めると、「好きな日本と好きな刺し子を、そのまま伝えたい」という素敵要素になると思っています。文化も趣味も変化は当たり前で、変わっていく形を受け入れたくないなんて器の小さい事は言いません。ただ、器は意識して欲しいんです。空手の型。料理の器。自由を謳歌する為には学んでほしいことはあるわけで。

日本の方には気楽に刺し子を。日本語圏以外の方は厳かに刺し子を。そんな矛盾にも似た（でも理解はして貰えると思うけれど）二重規範かもしれませんが、それが一番刺し子を伝える良い方法なんじゃないかと思っています。写真は英語でオンラインでワークショップを受講下さった方の作品です。たった1ヶ月弱でここまでできる人もいるんです。なのに、どうして頑なに「刺し子はひと針ずつ刺すんだ」と言う人がいるのか……理解はまだまだ及びません。
