The Sashiko pieces we introduce on Instagram is “results” of our enormous amount of time in stitching. Hours of stitching after years (decades) of practicing. We know the numbers of people who had spent their life in Sashiko – without asking for admiration. It is another character of Japaneseness. ☆
It is my goal to share the Sashiko we practice, including those who do not ask for any admiration. I open myself to accept a new adventure. I accept the free interpretations of Sashiko, embrace the transformation of Sashiko, and enjoy the process of sharing the Sashiko. Please, please keep the respect, though. I will not tolerate the ignorance or rudeness (protected) by “freedom” or “stupidity”. One needs to spend their time or money to learn something new to them. ☆

普段、世間様に紹介する刺し子は「刺した後の（完成形としての）刺し子」です。紹介できる作品となっているということは、つまりはそれまでの時間の結晶をご紹介しているということです。その「過去」は、数字で計算できる時間以上の複雑さがあります。刺し子を製造業として見る時に無視しちゃいけない「人は機械じゃない」という当たり前の、でも忘れ去られがちな、事実です。

刺し子にはとても時間がかかって、でもその過程そのものも楽しめるもので、だからこそ刺し子らしさがあるんだというのは、どれだけ言葉で表現してもきっと伝わらないと思っています。一緒の土俵に立つ為には、一緒に刺し子をする必要があると思うのですが、同時に「その過程を見て頂くことでなにか伝われば」と思い、未編集の配信を公開しています。敢えて編集をしていないのです（時間的余裕がないのもあるけれど）。日本で刺し子をしている皆様が、「こんなのは当たり前だから」という手仕事が、実は世界では誇れることだと伝えていくことが、僕の仕事の一つだろうなと思っています。やっぱり日本人で、日本文化が誇りで、日本らしさが好きなんです。
