“Bread Line”. Thanks to the comments, I learned the new word. I agree with many comments in the previous post. Thank you. A Life-Work balance is important. Money itself won’t bring us happiness. I did not write that money represents success. I never say that Money measure the value of life (You can find my view of money in the previous posts). ☆
However, what if a Sashiko artisan happens to be below the Bread Line? It is very important to discuss Sashiko and the choices we have. “Bread Line”という新しい言葉を学びました。「パンを購入できるだけ」という直訳になるのか、日本語だと生活保護基準ラインとかになるのかもしれません。海外で刺し子を紹介する際に、どうしても「趣味」としての刺し子が強調され、「選択肢としての刺し子だから何をしても良いんじゃないか」という議論になることもあります。確かに現代の刺し子は選択肢です。布が購入できなくて刺し子をしている人はいないでしょう。同時に、刺し子だけで家族を養っているという人には、まだ出会ったことがありません。お金と刺し子の話は相性が良くありません。嫌がる人もいるし、僕自身も話したい話題じゃない。幻想に包まれていたい。でもね、「刺し子ができて幸せです！」というだけだと、ちょっと浅いなぁと思ってしまうのです。刺し子ができて幸せという気持ちはとても大切です。僕もそこにいます。でも、そこに至るまでの物語にも思いを馳せて欲しい。特に英語圏で、刺し子と日本文化の繋がりを知らない人には、余計にそう思うのです。大事なことなので、日本語でも纏めました。一読頂ければ幸いです。http://sashico.com/ (掲題：刺し子を続けるということ)
