One of the core messages I share in Sashiko is “the care for the others”. In packaging the order, my first “care” is to deliver the items as “clean” as possible. Since there is a possibility of rain, I make sure that the item is covered by a plastic bag. Well, pretty much all of my orders can be dried and used with no problems. However, I want them to have the best condition item.

At the same time, if a customer cares for the “no-plastic wrapping”, I am happy to make a package with plastic free setting (just papers). I am not a machine, and Keiko and I are the only people who prepare the package, so we can care what the customer would prioritize. Now, a lot of things are over the Internet. However, I want you to feel “us“ over the monitor. We are “here” to support your Sashiko journey. (We try not to purchase the new plastic-poly bags for packaging. We reuse the bags that we got. You may find a piece of ‘Amazon bubble paper’ in your order. Instead of me throwing to the recycling bin, I recycle it by myself.)

今日の配信の備忘録です。僕への宿題。
まず、「日本人は争いを好まないのか？」という命題への考察。その上で（争いを好まないのであれば）、「なぜ好まないのか？」という話を集めること。正しいか間違いかを見極めるプロセスではなく、あくまで、僕が日本文化を語る時の引き出しを増やす為の宿題だとご理解頂ければ幸いです。その上で、僕の配信や投稿を通して、思うことがあれば教えて頂けるととても嬉しいです。書物に残った日本人観も勿論大切ですが、同時に今の生の声も、とても大事なものだと思うので。

「それ、侘び寂びじゃね？」という表現そのものが侘び寂びの趣を損ねてしまうという、言語化するのはとても難しい日本語。不立文字と禅にあるように、言葉ではなく行動にこそ意味があると捉える文化。まだまだ勉強が足りません。ただ、「学者じゃないから表現できること」もあると思っているのです。あくまで刺し子という立ち位置は崩さず、刺し子だから見える日本文化を英語で表現していけたらと思っています。力を貸して下さいませ！
