I may surprise you. This photo is the front of the Sashiko Jacket I shared yesterday. The photos I shared yesterday is the backside of the jacket. Keiko made it to be “reversible”, but her intention of “front of the Jacket” is this photo.
☆
Some may wonder, “why isn’t the side with more vivid pattern is the formal front?”. There are reasons deeply related to the Japenese culture & mindset. I appreciate your insight that the jacket with more “artistic” should be front. However, please also avoid judging based on some particular aesthetics. I probably have explained why before in Instagram… or somewhere. I will explain the reasons on Patreon once again. (https://www.patreon.com/sashiko)

The view from the summit (of a mountain) would be fantastic. An achievement (certification) of standing on the summit may be valuable for one’s career. After enjoying the views from many small mountains, Keiko and I are on the way to get to the summit of the mountain (Sashiko) as…

Once, in its history, Sashiko was very close to the Japanese Ordinary. For more than 300 years, Sashiko has been transforming its form by accepting the change. I have seen the change, and I may have caused the change. The reason I am speaking up now, (the case some consider…

In the past, I once thought it had to be the “Japanese” or “well-experienced” in order to practice the “authentic” Sashiko. I was wrong. I had neglected what I could have done (which is “sharing”), and drew an unnecessary boundary. After almost 10 years, I am confident in saying that…

Ah, it’s like the western suit jacket, a somber or understated outside with bright and busy lining, a paisley or the like. Beautiful as always, thank you

My understanding of Japanese culture is that for the most part, they are a very private and humble people on the outside, and generally “showing off” is somewhat frowned upon. Public displays of affection are also not socially acceptable.
