Wait a second. I hope I am WRONG on this. But, is @kimono deleting (or hiding) the comments regarding “Cultural Appropriation”? I was sleepy last night, but I saw many comments from both Japanese & Non-Japanese mentioning about the proper usage of “Kimono”. If they delete the comments, then it is absolutely the issue of Cultural Stealing and “Ignorance” – which I disrespect the most (you know that by now).

The photo is not Kimono – we call it Noragi (Workman outer Jacket). Since Sashiko was performed on more farmer’s clothing, we don’t have many photos of Kimono. Either in Kimono or Noragi, the Japanese believe a word has its spirit (Kotodama – 言霊）. Kimono, as the symbol of Japanese Clothing culture has so many spirit from all the People who appreciated Kimono now and in history. It is okay to “not knowing” and misusing it. However, ignoring is not just okay. Come on. I will keep sharing my insight about this matter. It deeply related what I would like to share – Sashiko. 刺し子に直接は関係ないかもしれないのだけど、でもとても大切なことなので、引き続き「Cultural Appropriation = 文化の盗用（私物化）」についてのお話。様々な要素が噛み合う、結構センシティブな話なので、これまではあまり表現してこなかったけれど、今回の「@kimono」が矯正下着のブランド名になるというのは、流してはおけない。

無知は恥じゃない。知らないままKimonoとか、他の言葉を使うこともあるだろう。今回は「着物」で日本文化だけど、日本人が逆のことをすることもあると思う。ただね、もしかしたらなんだけど、16時間前に見た @Kimono での「日本文化を尊重して」というコメントが、今もう見れないんです。非表示？削除？どちらにしろ、「知った上で無視する」という選択肢をとったことに。これはよくない。ふざけるなよ。

大切な服には魂が宿るように、言葉には魂が宿ります。着物という大きな日本の衣文化のカテゴリーは、それだけ様々な思いや願いが詰まっています。それは無視しちゃいけない。言霊。着物には沢山の言霊が宿ってる。日本人らしさが詰まってる。無視はいけない。襤褸の美しさを肯定した海外。だからこそ、日本人も思いを発信しなきゃ。
