It is an honor to be part of QuiltCon 2020 as a faculty. I plan to share (teach) the core & basic of Sashiko & how we “may” be able to apply to the Modern Quilt. I got a lot of things to learn in a journey to QuiltCon 2020. This is the first time to offer the workshop outside of NY, NJ, and PA. Please come and see me & hopefully to take the workshop with QuiltCon. I will also bring as many Sashiko items as possible with me. ☆
[How to register:] According to @themqg | Member registration for QuiltCon 2020 will open on June 25, 2019 at 10am EDT, 7am PDT. The last day to join the MQG to be eligible for member registration is Friday, June 22nd, so join soon! More information will be sent in June. Enjoy Sashiko & quilting!

Over the last 4 years or so, many kindly advise me to structure the system of “Certification” or “Atsushi’s Certified Sashiko Teacher” to expand our Sashiko. They advise me to give people a certification so that they can teach Sashiko with less worries (to Cultural Appropriation), and they can pay…

We have a goal. One day, we would like to sustain our life with practicing only Sashiko, without sacrificing someone’s effort. It is very challenging to provide a family with hand-crafting as an occupation. In order to be “wealthy”, the higher degree in college and/or engineering skills would be the…

Photoshooting while re-arranging our items from the lovely Sashiko workshop in PA. This Jacket gets many compliments for its beauty. We appreciate that. On top of the beauty, this Jacket has an important message (story) as well. Some say that Sashiko requires “a knot”. It is fine to use knots,…

I plan on making your course my first choice during registration, so wish me luck. I’d love to read your comments about males/men stitching. I enjoy “Sashiko” during air travel and get weird comments from people who look down on men who “stitch.” I wonder if you’ve ever encountered any bias or someone diminishing your masculinity because of your talent? Perhaps a future post?? Thanks for all your insights about Sashiko – please know that there’s a bunch of us reading and following your journey. 🙂
