Happy Mother’s Day! ☆

Happy Mother’s Day! ☆
Regardless of all the serious messages and (noble) philosophy here, the primitive motivation of me (Atsushi) continuing Sashiko is (was) to keep my mother busy with Sashiko – the Sashiko she likes. When my father passed away, we thought of having her in the US so we could “care”. However, we both understood that the “care” we can do for my mother was to keep providing her “jobs” and “opportunities” to create her Sashiko pieces and meet new people who loves Sashiko. Although we do not live together, this Sashi.Co project – a project of mother and son, connect us and let us create something with a lot of “care”
☆
A present is great for mother’s day. More importantly, tell her “that you care”. My mother once used to say that the happiness of a child (me or my brother) is better than any present. I became a parent, and I 100% understand what my mother told me. Happy Mother’s day for anyone who is a mother, anyone who helps mother as a partner, and anyone who has a mother. Just share your care to “mother” you have, hopefully with motherly stitch (as known as Sashiko). ☆

You may be tired of reading/listening, but one of the biggest goals of my activities in Sashiko is to create/maintain the “place” – or “community”. Sashiko (or any hand-crafting) can be a lonely hobby/work. I want them to know that they have a place to belong to. Sashiko Live is…

The origin of Sashiko & Boro, to patchwork the small tiny fabric with Sashiko Stitches. To make fabric stronger, and to appreciate fabric without throw them away. Mottaina – Too good to waste, is how the Japanese developed some of our beautiful culture. — 2018-06-21 21:19:35 Source

The year of 2024 has been turbulent to me. After all, it is good to see my family smiling. We made several big decisions to prioritize the value in our life. I enjoy the weekend mornings, sharing small talks with her over the coffee, waiting for my daughter to come…
