Ahhh. So many “stories” and “feeling” I would like to share, but so limited time

atsushijp, 2019年5月4日

Ahhh. So many “stories” and “feeling” I would like to share, but so limited time I have to write down everything. Would anyone be interested being my “conversation partner” in Live Streaming? It can be on Instagram or youtube. It will be strictly about the culture, mindset, history, and philosophy of Sashiko because I would like to be fair to those who take my workshop with fees. However, it would be easier to talk about Sashiko when I have someone to talk to. Please leave a comment if you are interested to be the “conversation partner”. I will invite you after learning who you are.
☆
I do not answer questions regarding the techniques for many reasons. I would like to explain why in conversation above & obviously the lack of time is the key reason, but one of the important reason is the “attitude in learning.”
☆
I want Sashiko to be open-source. Therefore, we provide pretty much everything to “learn Sashiko (including technique)” if you are aggressive in learning. Asking questions is easy, but I define it as “passive learning” and the Japanese mastery will not be completed if the student is passive (the pupils are supposed to “steal” instead of “be taught”). It may take more than 100 hours if you watch our videos and read the articles (with not very good writing by me). However, if you are serious enough, you can learn the Sashiko we practice for free. ☆
For those who don’t have few hundreds hours and risking the detours of misunderstandings, I have workshops to provide the key and close attention to learn the core and basic of Sashiko. We sincerely appreciate those who invest in & support us by taking the workshop! It means a lot to us.
☆

I believe anyone who takes my workshop knows how much I prepare for my teaching opportunity. I have so many years of experience in Sashiko, but so what? Practicing and teaching is different. I am so worried of delivering the incorrect/inappropriate message because what I speak is an action of…

2nd Day for intensive Sashiko Denim. ☆ Another 3 hours here today, and decided to complete the left leg with Shippou & Logo only. Another 10 hours or so will be time for patching the holes with Sashiko. All-hand-stitching. I usually ask for a few months to complete. This time,…

In Sashiko workshop & Online Class, many ask me “is it good stitching?”. I understand that it is a very natural question in learning something new – to be better. However, my attention goes to how you enjoy the stitching itself. Even stitches, beautiful stitches, accuracy, the results are of…

I’m a new student to sashiko but I would love to learn more! I’ve been finding your posts about the philosophy of sashiko very interesting. I am interested both in mending using sashiko and in making more crafty pieces (bags, cloths, etc.). よろしくお願いします~

If you want to do it in English I would love to be a conversation partner for one of your live streams! We have a conversation regarding my academic research on Monday so if you feel I could be a meaningful conversation after that let’s revisit the idea? 💕

What is the reason for leaving the extra bit of thread at a turn?

So much wisdom you write. I dont do sashiko myself, maybe later in life. I do a lot of embroidery and patching using running stitches. Nowadays people tend to ask me if it is sashiko. I always say no and explain that we have been mending and using running stitches in Sweden as well. When I teach at a workshop I often get the feeling that people want it to be fast, a quick fix to leran. I think that is a thing with our time, a lot of impressions fast, fast, fast.

Hello, everybody! It’s very interesting and amazing! I’ve been watching the pictures of sashimi for several years. Now I decided to start doing it. Maybe I ‘ve got more free time, maybe my granddaughters like flowers are growing too fast and I want to make their clothes a bit bigger using this technique. Who knows? The first question is if I should use an extra one under the pieces of cloths. I want to make a hoodie out of few li
