Photos from the previous projects. The day when my friend asked me to work on the “4-days Denim Project”, it was the day I completed this jacket (after so many days in pending. I appreciate my client for being so patient). It is the same pattern, shippou, but by adding to in a different place of the denim, it looks perfectly different and unique.
☆
It is hand-stitching after all. Even with the same pattern with the similar color, the results become very unique. Sashiko is a form of stitching to make fabric stronger. So does denim become strong as well. I hope we can repurpose and upcycle what we love, and keep wearing them with many stories.
☆

I recently learn the new word, “Cultural Appropriation.” I have been surfing online reading about this topic. The more I read it, the more I get confused. My brain is fried 😀 ☆ As much as I would like to share; ”there is no rule in Sashiko & no such…

One of my challenging projects is to make Sashiko on the acutual garment, instead of patching or repairing it with Sashiko fabric. I first thought of stitching Asano-ha pattern, but my fingers screams for the pain… let’s see if I can go further. 2017-07-24 16:16:22 Source
